Dear community members,
After extensive consultation with both medical and religious scholars, Winnipeg Islamic Centre (Masjid Bilal) announces that all religious and Social Programs are cancelled until further notice including Friday prayers, other large congregations, Weekend Classes, and evening lectures.
This will be effective on Tuesday March 17th, 2020. On Fridays at khutbah time, the mosque, will be completely closed. However, the mosque is a place of comfort and medication for the Muslims particularly the days of trials and tribulations like this; therefore, other than Fridays,
people can come and pray individually while taking all precautious steps. We highly recommend that children, elders and people with medical conditions stay at home. Should you have any questions about the Fiqh perspective of this decision, the permissibility to suspend programs
and prayers with large gatherings to reduce harm and the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus in the community, please contact our Imam and the Educational Director of Bilal Mosque, Sheikh Muhiadin Omar or The MIA Fiqh Committee. Some organizations may choose to completely close their entire sties. We respect that as it is a very understandable decision in this context and situation.
We ask Allah (AW) to protect us all and guide us to what is best for us in this world and the hereafter.
